Dear Pillars Families,

It is with immense pleasure that I welcome you to Pillars Preparatory Academy, the youngest school to be accredited by AdvancED in its second year of operation. Pillars is striving to bring each child's learning experience to its highest potential by enhancing our curricula and strengthening our Islamic Studies through character building and leadership. As the school Director, I look forward to partnering with all our parents to make this year an exciting and successful one for all of our children, Starting from the first day of school on Tuesday, September 5th, 2017. At Pillars, we strongly believe that successful students need support from school and at home. With a shared commitment to our mission, vision and core values, everyone at Pillars strives to achieve our goals of educational excellence and exemplary character. We ask that you guide and support your child's learning by ensuring that he/she:

  1. Attends school daily and arrives on time, at 7:45 am, ready for the day's learning experience.
  2. Completes all homework assignments given by teachers.
  3. Reads daily to develop a love for reading and to improve literacy skills.
  4. Shares school experiences with you so that you are aware of his/her school life.
  5. Informs you if he/she needs additional support in any area or subject.

As we begin the school year, we would like all parents to know that, our dedicated and qualified staff continuously seeks to develop our students into life-long learners. They intent on providing them with a challenging course of study by introducing innovative programs and initiatives to enable our students to deal with the fast-paced and ever-evolving world.

Going into the new school year we have enhanced our curricula by introducing new supplementary materials for our K-9 English Language Arts (ELA) program. We also reconfigured the school schedule so that we can add on extra ELA, Math, Science, and Social Studies periods throughout the week without compromising any other subject. Therefore, first period will start at 8:00am sharp and dismissal will be at 3:20pm.

A Parent Portal will be used as a means of communication with teachers, and Admin. Portals will now be available through an App or online.

Please consider joining our school volunteer program as our students can greatly benefit from your involvement and contributions to the school's program and its operations. Simply reply to this email with interest in occasional volunteering and days/times that work best for you and we will add you to the parent list. We seek volunteers to help us with the following activities:

  1. Mystery Readers for the children during class
  2. School-wide events
  3. Student recognition events
  4. Outreach and recruitment of parent and community volunteers

If you have any questions about school rules and expectations, please feel free to contact me or to discuss them with your child's teacher. It is very important that you and your child are fully informed regarding standards related to appropriate behavior for a safe and productive school year, as such, you will receive a form in the first 2 weeks of school asking for signature certifying that you have reviewed the Pillars Preparatory Academy Parent Handbook. The wonderful staff and administration feel privileged to be a part of this school family and community. We thank you for your support, and look forward to meeting all of you during our Parent Orientation Day on September 8th, 2017.
