Middle School Departments Philosophy
At Pillars Preparatory Academy, we believe in nurturing the minds and hearts of our students, fostering a love for learning, and providing a supportive environment where every student can thrive.
Our dedicated team of educators are committed to creating an atmosphere that encourages intellectual curiosity, creativity, and personal growth. We understand that the middle school years are a crucial period in a student's educational journey, and we are here to guide and inspire them every step of the way.
Our school is not just a place for academic development; it's a place where friendships are formed, talents are discovered, and lifelong memories are made. We offer a wide range of extracurricular activities, clubs, and sports to ensure that our students have a well-rounded educational experience.
Pillars Preparatory Academy will have a small school environment where students have access to individual attention from teachers and the administration, which improves student outcomes, grades and test scores. Thanks to our moderate class sizes, teachers can modify lessons and utilize different pedagogical techniques to cater to the individual styles of learning. The Curriculum of Pillars Preparatory Academy offers students an opportunity to study a rigorous curriculum. Standardized testing is a focal point of the Curriculum.
Testing
The PSAT 8/9 is designed specifically for 8th and 9th graders and serves as a practice test for the PSAT/NMSQT (National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test), which is taken by 10th and 11th graders. It assesses the same skills as the PSAT/NMSQT but at a level appropriate for younger students.
-Offering the PSAT to 8th and 9th graders can be beneficial in several ways:
-Early Skill Assessment: It allows students to assess their academic strengths and weaknesses early in their high school careers, helping them identify areas for improvement.
-College Readiness: It introduces younger students to the format and content of the SAT, which is a key component of the college admissions process in the United States.
-National Merit Scholarship: It can serve as a qualifying test for the National Merit Scholarship program, which can lead to scholarship opportunities for high-performing students in their junior and senior years.
-Test Practice: It provides valuable test-taking experience, helping students become more comfortable with standardized testing.
